Custom Design the Right Way: Why Every Ring at Diamond Lab Is One-of-a-Kind

Designing an engagement ring should be personal—because no two love stories are the same.

At Diamond Lab, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. Every ring we create is fully customised, meticulously hand-built around your chosen stone and design preferences. We don’t use pre-designed templates or generic mounts. Your ring is made for you, and only you.

Here’s what that really means.

What Does "Custom" Really Mean?

Too often, “custom” is misused in the jewellery industry. Some brands simply swap out stones into mass-produced settings and call it bespoke. But at Diamond Lab, custom means:

  • Designing the ring around your selected stone dimensions

  • Adjusting prong height and band curvature for perfect proportion

  • Allowing you to choose the metal, width, finish, profile, and detailing

  • Crafting the ring from scratch with hand-selected materials

There are no stock settings sitting in drawers. Nothing pre-made. Every part of the ring is considered, refined, and fitted precisely for you.

Built Around Your Stone, Not Fit Into a Pre-Made Setting

Whether you’re choosing a lab-grown diamond or moissanite, your centre stone deserves more than being squeezed into a pre-cut mould. Each shape and size has its own character—and we embrace that.

We build every setting around your exact stone:

  • If your stone is a 2.10ct cushion moissanite, we don’t round it up to a 2.5ct setting.

  • If your oval diamond has a unique length-to-width ratio, we tailor the prongs and head to complement that shape.

  • Want a hidden halo tucked perfectly beneath the girdle? We’ll calculate its diameter precisely.

This kind of attention ensures your ring looks balanced and elegant—not bulky, loose, or awkward.

Your Vision, Brought to Life

When you start the design process with us, we treat your ideas like a blueprint.

You can choose:

  • Cut style: Oval, Cushion, Emerald, Pear, etc.

  • Design style: Solitaire, Three Stone, Hidden Halo, etc.

  • Metal type: 18k white, yellow, rose gold, or platinum

  • Band width and shape: from ultra-slim 1.5mm to more substantial profiles

  • Engraving, mixed metals, gemstone accents, and more

We’ll collaborate with you, step-by-step—from sketches and CAD design to final polish.

Want something you saw on Instagram or Pinterest? We’ll interpret the style in a way that’s structurally sound, proportionally refined, and totally unique to you.

No Outsourcing. No Compromise.

Our custom rings are handcrafted in Australia by experienced jewellers who understand the nuances of precision setting.

We do everything in-house to ensure:

  • Every claw prong is positioned securely and symmetrically

  • Every side stone is aligned and flush

  • Every ring feels weighty, durable, and smooth on the hand

This kind of work takes time. That’s why we never rush. Most custom rings take 4 to 6 weeks, and every day is spent getting the details exactly right.
